Vestiges of African history
The winners always tells the story, and this is an evil that Eurocentrism has brought to the whole world, our history was erased and supplanted as exactly the same happened in Africa, colonialism and the emergence of warlike powers in Europe allowed the simple but meticulous control plan over other continents. The empire that attracts the most attention since it was a power at the time was that of Egypt, however, as we already know, the cradle of life is in Africa, therefore, there were many more empires throughout the continent.
According to the above, we could make a great list of cultures from different times and spaces where African culture was influenced by its constant connection with Asia and Europe. The history of the world has been skewed by actions and executions that combine religious ideology and political ideology.
The African culture has been permeated from the beginning by close religions, in the first instance by typical European Christianity, then by Islam that came thanks to its proximity to the Middle East and finally its same religions, which were diversified by the constant intrusions from outside cultures.
One of the most outstanding empires, taking into account that almost no African empire came out of the Neolithic, was the kingdom of Ghana. Their great territorial growth was due to their adaptation to the world, since they were great merchants, however, it was not all the work of their own people, they were influences by Muslim Arabs who brought the camel to their lands and the intention of commercializing the great riches they had such as gold, salt, and slaves; its riches were exorbitant but wasted on weapons and horses.
The Kanem-Bornú empire is one of the longest-lived that Africa had, these unlike the Ghana empire, did not commercialize gold, their trade was based mainly on cotton, fabrics, exotic animal products and metallurgy. It was one of the first empires to convert to Islam, however, the internal jihadist struggles were its decline, they also carried out similar slave exchanges for weapons and horses in many of the African kingdoms.
Empires such as Benin, where there were many Yoruba peoples, were the most violent during the colonial era, since they are described in all the European countries that were involved in this crime against humanity, Spanish, Portuguese, French and British newspapers described them in contemptuous and inhuman way. The Yorubas were one of the currently “protected” ethnic groups. Santerism began from this culture, however, the Muslim influence changed this religion a little, and a few centuries later Christianity also permeated the Orisha religion, which is currently very popular in countries. where these peoples arrived.
I have to mention that in Latin America the Yorubas were called "lucumi" for the phrase luku mi which means "my friend" in some dialects (surname with interesting origin). If I took the trouble to mention each and every one of the kingdoms that existed, it would be very vague, since the story was developed by the strongest, Eurocentrism.
Muslims were not far behind, and Islam managed to claim too much territory along the coasts due to its strategic location for trade routes. Several kingdoms had clashes such as those of the Soso Kingdom and the Mandingas, as a result of this, the Mali empire was born, which sought a centralism and an organization more adapted to the world. A "constitution" was created where slavery was abolished, but it was still in practice in other empires. Musa I, was one of the most important leaders that the Mali empire had, since it reached its peak, he was also the first 100% Muslim leader, therefore, he developed the Islamist belief throughout the territory, as well as the Mandingo aristocrats and merchants.
This small historical retelling happens simultaneously with the colonization in America. Well, at this precise moment is when Spanish colonizers took possession of our town that was clearly less developed than the African kingdoms themselves.
Perhaps it goes over other empires that were as important as those mentioned in this writing, however, they give clear evidence that Africa is not just blacks enslaved by Europeans, they were developed cultures overwhelmed by the warlike evolution that Europe had, the wealth they had e their territory were much larger than the same in America; gold was like the green sea of the eastern plains in our country.
Finally, I would like to conclude with a phrase that a great Colombian philosopher once said "The notion of a harmonious society is a contradiction in terms." Well, it was clear that these territories did not have a joint thought due to the multiple external influences and religious ideologies. Of which the Europeans knew how to take advantage of and bleed all these peoples for many centuries
